These past weeks I signed up for several exchanges in a burst of (over?)confidence, two of which revealed last week, so now here I am to show off my amazing good fortune because I definitely won the exchange jackpot:

For raremaleslashex I received:
- When the Chips Are Down (TFatWS, Bucky/Zemo) where Bucky encounters Zemo on a mission and they have to kiss to distract the bad guys
- FANART of Plunkett and Macleane (from the movie of the same name) playing strip poker

For rarepairexchange I received:
don't need no dollar bills (GI Joe: Retaliation, Flint/Storm Shadow) where Flint encounters Storm Shadow on a mission and they have to pretend to be boyfriends to distract the bad guys

... there might be a theme here?

Both CinemaSins and Honest Trailers posted videos for G.I. Joe: Retaliation recently, which felt like an amazing coincidence until one of them revealed at the end that there's apparently a new G.I. Joe movie out that's all about Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow, so ... guess I'll add that to my To Watch list.

Also: the fandom for Aliette de Bodard's Obsidian & Blood trilogy celebrated its semi-official one-year anniversary with more fic!

RL professional deadlines kept me from really committing myself so far, but I've shuffled off that particular coil, so... I really should venture out and about a bit, fandomwise. - I'm still fiddling with something for fandomgiftbox, but I'm not even sure one can still? yet? post anything; I might have to gift the fic out of turn--- As for exchanges proper, I haven't dared so far; I'm afraid my fandoms-of-one would immediately become emergency-pinch-hits, if this makes sense? Could you, would you recommend an exchange, though? :)

... I came this close to saying 'well, Jamie sure tried' [to die for that expression] but actually, no, the almost-dying bit was not even remotely Plunkett's fault.

Exchange recs, hm. Not quite right here, right now, but ... nominations for Yuletide (yuletide_admin) start September 20th: it's a long-running annual rare fandoms exchange for which 1476 (!) people signed up last year, so (a) it's got a huge pool of potential writers and fellow fandom-of-one-ers, and (b) even if you become an immediate pinch hit, you'll be one of many.

And hm, not sure what's going on with fandomgiftbox. I did it ... two years ago, maybe? I think you can post until the reveals date of September 5th (and also later) but the mod seems possibly missing in action since late June?

One of the maintainers of the AO3 collection posted something to the AO3 on August 12th (an intrepid investigator is I!), so if nothing else, works in there might/could technically be revealed on schedule. Maybe post your fic there and wait to see what happens in three weeks? (If there's been no update by then, I think you can simply remove it from the collection to have your recipient get a notification for a gift - unlike if it were stuck in a 'box' as a comment.)*

Yuletide, absolutely! I missed out the last few years, I couldn't handle the deadlines, or didn't know what to offer, or what to nominate, or some other feeble excuse. But there were grand old fics to be had, for sure. I just need to keep my act together so I won't forget to nominate stuff. [Hell, there should be Måneskin RPF Renaissance AU, I feel. As well as a grudgefest between Charlemagne and his rival Tassilo III of Bavaria (lovely, 8th century RPF, does it get any more hopeless?) But if there's any remedy, yuletide is sure to have it.] You'll be playing, yes?

Ahh you're right, thank you, intrepid investigator, for checking the fandomgiftbox aO3 collection - over the weekend I found I could still post as a screened comment in the comm, but it *is* strangely silent over there... although with the collection as a backup it won't go to waste. *rubs hands*
