The Troy: Fall of a City miniseries is one of the competing fandoms in the Fandom Battle over at [community profile] fffc this week, and while it doesn't seem to stand a snowball's chance of sticking around for another week, one of my friends owns it on DVD, so I figured why not give it a watch.

I was comfortably sort of liking it, but now they've gone and made Achilles/Patroklus/Briseis canon and I realize I've gone and caught FEELINGS, and argh. (They did add some twists and turns, but I very much doubt 'and then Achilles decided to withdraw from the war and go home with his two lovers instead' is going to be one of them.)

The series splits screen time between Troy and the Greeks, but until the OT3 happened, I didn't actually like any of the characters very much: Paris feels one error in judgment away from cheating on Helen, Hector is sympathetic but boring (sorry, dude), Agamemnon has (to paraphrase one of his soldiers) 'jumped off the sanity cliff' and Odysseus has an amusing 'I have a ton of smart plans, so why is everyone acting like an idiot to make my life more difficult?' expression but he's smooth-smart rather than funny-smart, if that makes sense. (More Tywin, less Tyrion, so to speak.)

Maybe I should stop watching and pretend it all ended well for everyone I now care about. (But there might be more OT3 scenes!)
