For Yuletide, I received two amazing gifts: Mea Culpa (or, When Grumpy Cat Met Cute Hair) for the RED movies, where Han recruits Cooper (!!!) and The Caper for The Archangel Protocol series, where Mouse and Deirdre team up (!!!) to take down an evil corporation.

chocolateboxcomm, with the fandom I didn't get for Yuletide and two fandoms I got into during Yuletide, which is to say they're kind of small, but, well, people have offered them, so ...
I started reading Catheryne Valente's Space Opera because Eurovision (but IN SPACE) sounded like fun, but I found the writing style too exhausting, so I dropped it after maybe twenty pages.
Currently, I'm rereading Simon R. Green's Deathstalker series, in part (I suspect) because that author isn't afraid to use a period. Even when someone else might have used a comma. Though also in part because I guess I was in the mood for some over-the-top action scenes and aliens and evil empresses and espers and cybermen and sort of actual space opera and people saving humanity via group hugs or accurate news reporting. (There's almost no actual space combat; it's all sword-and-lasergun hand-to-hand combat (either one-on-one or against overwhelming odds) with the occasional fast-ship-with-almost-no-weapons needs to outrun big-ship-with-lots-of-weapons chase scene.)
After the Evil Empire has been toppled (in book 3), and before the next Big Bad arrives, one of the characters gets a job playing themselves on a holo-show about their (pretty much 100% fictional) adventures during the rebellion, which I really loved as a weird thing that would totally happen, maybe? Of course, because rebellions take a lot out of people, they end up getting fired because the showrunners feel they just 'don't look the part' anymore. It's all kind of tragicomic and absurd and an example of why I enjoy these books so much, even if there's also parts I feel a little bit meh about.
